How did you get into this kind of music?

Post by admin »

Hey guys, I just thought it would be cool to open a post to tell your story of how did you get to discover this music. I'll go first.

First contact I had with electronic music was the dubstep music on the intros and outros of early gameplays in YouTube. Skrillex, Zomboid and those guys, for me it was just like hey this sounds cool. Bangarang right?

When I was a kid I was super into old school metal. I started with the heavy metal of Iron Maiden and went quickly into Thrash and the Big Four and other bands like Sodom, Kreator, Overkill and some more modern bands like Toxic Holocaust and Municipal Waste. Hellripper is also hella cool. After that Black Metal like Bathory, Venom, Darkthrone...

It's funny because I used to argue about modern metal not being real authenthic OG metal and now I am opening a forum only because I am tired of people saying modern techno is not techno xDDD. Dont judge me I was 12 and thought I was the coolest kid with my vest full of band patches :?

So I already had that interest in darker, faster and more agressive styles. I was one day looking for a ¿hardcore metal? playlist on YouTube to listen to while killing bots in CS:GO because I was feeling like discovering new metal subgenres or bands and I choosed the first one.
It was not metal it was old school hardcore.

I started listening I thought wow wtf is this, this is super cool.

After that I got obsessed with gabber, early hardcore and Thunderdome. It's funny because I love this early versions of hardcore but not modern hardcore. Idk why tho.

After that I slowly moved to modern hard techno, acid and schranz. My favourite producers are Klangkuenstler, Luciid and VCL. This is my favourite track from Klang:

I remember listening this track live in real life in a set. One of the best experiences of my life.

I also enjoy breakcore when it's mixed with harder kicks and I'd love to make this forum also a home for those breakcore fans that are tired of dealing with gatekeeping bullshit in Reddit. All those SEL references are welcome. Maybe I'll open a subforum for it.
If you don't know much about breakcore give it a try, this track is not a very orthodox example of genre but I love it:

So that's my history. I am interested in reading about yours because I feel like a lot of techno fans come from a metal background, like for instance Cassie Raptor 8-) .
